London has some of the best restaurants in the world and is home to many Michelin-star restaurants that will blow your taste buds away, but sometimes you don’t want fine dining and you want something more fun.
With TV shows around food challenges gaining in popularity over the last few years, it’s only natural that restaurants in London have started putting food challenges on their menus.
Today we will be looking at the best food challenges in London.
If you love a full English breakfast then the Wonder Cafe’s challenge is going to be right up your street. For £20 or free if you manage to eat it all, the food challenge consists of 4 slices of toast, 4 eggs, 6 sausages, 4 black pudding, 6 hash browns, mushrooms, tomatoes and more beans than you could want, this food challenge isn’t for the faint of heart.
If the above hasn’t put you off then you should know that the food challenge has only been pulled off once and that was by a competitive food eater.
You can find Wonder Cafe at Uxbridge Rd, Uxbridge, England, UK UB100PH and you can read more about them on their website:
Most food challenges in London will revolve around eating copious amounts of food in a certain time frame, but not this one. The Red Dog Saloon hot wing challenge as you can guess from the name revolves around eating some of the hottest wings known to man.
If you are brave enough to take on this challenge and complete it you could end up with a 10-25% lifetime discount, not bad at all.
The rules to this challenge are simple, eat 6 ghost wings within 10 minutes with no drinks allowed during or 5 minutes after. If you can eat the wings in 77 seconds or less you could also make it onto their leaderboard and win a “gold coin” which gives you a lifetime discount of 25%.
You can visit Red Dog Saloon at either their Soho address:
20 Berwick Street,
London W1F 0PY
Or at their Hoxton Square address:
37 Hoxton Square,
London N1 6NN
If English breakfasts and hot wings don’t cut it for you then this next food challenge could be for you. The Man Vs Food Banana split belly splitter challenge consists of 3lbs of ice cream, two bananas, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, nuts and sprinkles.
If that isn’t challenging enough you also have to eat this dessert with a teaspoon within 30 minutes. If you can do it, you will get your dessert for free and win a t-shirt too.
The Man Vs Food restaurant is located at 41-43 High Street, Hounslow TW3 1RH, England
London has some of the best pizza restaurants outside of Italy and while Naples is the home of pizza, Naples doesn’t have a yard-long pizza with a generous portion of mac and cheese to chow down on.
If you fancy a different type of food challenge then the Tank and Paddle has one of the toughest challenges but one of the best rewards too. If you can eat a yard-long pizza and a huge portion of mac and cheese within 15 minutes then you get a free £50 bar tab.
You can find the tank and paddle at 3 Mincing Ln., London EC3R 7AA, UK
Want to eat some of the hottest chillies in the world including the Carolina reaper, scotch bonnet and Nega chilli? No me neither, but if you do want to burn the inside of your stomach then the Bollywood burner challenge is the food challenge you have been waiting for.
Unlike the other food challenges in this blog post, this one doesn’t have any rules and the challenge is eating the dish itself. The dish is so hot that participants will be given yoghurt to cool their mouths down after attempting it.
The restaurant will need a week in advance to prepare the dish so if this is something that interests you get on down to the Cinnamon club in Westminister which is located at:
The Old Westminster Library, 30-32 Great Smith Street, Westminster, SW1P 3BU
