If you’ve never used self storage before, you may have a lot of questions on how it works. This is why we’ve put together some useful FAQs.

Self storage is a relatively new service in the United Kingdom. A self storage facility contains a number of different sized storage rooms. With a range of different sizes, self storage facilities can cater for a wide range of storage requirements.

Urban Locker is a self storage company concentrated in London. We provide secure, local self storage services in central convenient areas around Islington and Old Street.

Urban Locker self storage facilities utilise a range of modern security systems to make sure that anything stored with us is well looked after. We utilise monitored internal and external CCTV and PIN access control so that we can control who has access to the storage facility.

The amount of storage space you will require depends on what you need to store. We have a team of storage experts available to make sure that you get the space you required. Alternatively you can use our website size estimator.

All Urban Locker Old Streets the units require a padlock to secure them. you are welcome to bring your own padlock with you but Urban Locker can also provide high quality padlocks in store. At our brand new Islington facility, you don’t need a padlock to access your unit, all you need is your smartphone.

All goods must be insured whilst in storage. Many home insurance policies will extend their cover to a self storage facility. If you arrange insurance yourself all that we require is a letter confirming that your goods are insured whilst in our storage facility (address required). Alternatively, Urban Locker can provide great value insurance that is tailored to self storage.

The minimum storage period at Urban Locker Self Storage is just 2 weeks. There is no maximum storage period so you can store for as long as you want.

At Urban Locker we often run offers on our storage services. These offers can come in the form of discounted storage rates or free weeks storage. For information on our current offers please check out our homepage.

At Urban Locker Self Storage we accept payment by credit/debit card or direct bank transfer (BACS).

You can access Urban Locker self storage facilities during our standard office hours. For more information please check our locations pages.

Once you have received a quotation from Urban Locker you can book your storage over the phone or online. To book your storage we require a £20 reservation deposit. This is refunded to you when you start storing with Urban Locker.

You can transport your goods for storage any way you choose. We have recommended removals and van hire parners. For more information please check out our removals page.

If your storage requirements change you are welcome to transfer to a smaller or larger self storage unit. All internal transfers are free of charge.

If you have already booked your storage unit with Urban Locker and you need to change your move in date, it’s really simple. Simply get in touch with us and we will adjust your booking, free of charge.

At Urban Locker we charge for self storage on a monthly basis. Many other storage companies charge 4 weekly which means they’ll charge you 13 times a year instead of 12!
