Home storage ideas to add more storage to your home.

February 3, 2023 |

One of the reasons why people invest in self-storage is that they have run out of storage in their homes. With the cost of living renting out more storage space may not be at the top of everyone’s list.

Home storage is a vital aspect of keeping your home organised and decluttered. If you are considering hiring a storage unit, try some of these ideas out first. Here are some storage ideas for your home, including the bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom and garden.

Home storage in the Bedroom

The bedroom is one of the busiest rooms in the home and it can be cluttered with clothes, shoes, books and other personal items. To maximise the space in your bedroom you could use under-bed storage, closet organisers, and shelving to add additional storage.

Additional furniture such as nightstands are not only aesthetically pleasing but are also a convenient place to store books, lamps and personal items.

Home storage in the living room

The living room is the central hub of the home and it’s important to keep it clutter free so that the room can be enjoyed by the entire family. The living room often gets cluttered with books, magazines, movies, electronics and much more.

To cut down on the clutter in your front room you should look to add storage by adding furniture with built-in storage such as Coffee tables, Bookshelves and ottomans.

Shelving is also another quick and easy way of adding storage without having to break the bank.

Storage in the kitchen.

While the living room may be one of the most used rooms in the home, the kitchen to many families is the heart of the home. If your kitchen is cluttered with cookware, dishes and other electronics here are some of the storage options you can add to your home to make it feel less cluttered.

Cabinet organisers are a quick and easy way of separating your cutlery in your drawers. You can purchase them for cheap on Amazon or at your local supermarket. Using these organisers will mean that it’s easy to find your cutlery when you are looking for it and you will also be able to fit more of them into your drawers without the chance of breaking them.

If you already have an island in your kitchen then you can add additional storage for your pots and pans above it by installing a suspended rack. These racks come in many forms and you can use them for pots and pans or display your expensive wine glasses.

Storage in the Bathroom.

If there’s one room in the home that’s constantly in use and that can become cluttered very quickly it’s the bathroom. The bathroom can become cluttered with toiletries, towels, and other items.

You can add towel rails, ottomans, and bathroom furniture with built-in storage and shelving to keep the clutter down in your bathroom. When in the bathroom you should aim to keep all of your toiletries out of sight if possible as keeping them in view can make your bathroom look smaller than it is.

Storage in the garden

The garden shed is one of the best ways to keep your garden furniture safe during the winter months. But not everything should be stored in your garden shed. If you have any items that can be damaged by moisture or changing temperatures then don’t store them in the garden shed, you would be better off bringing those items indoors.
